GÍSLI SIGURÐSSON: Síldarárin | Herring Times (2017)

Ströndin is pleased to present a selection of photographs made by Gísli Sigurðsson. A local visionary, Gísli photographed daily life around Seydisfjördur from 1957 to 1991, contributing to the town’s rich archive of historic images. Like many people of Seydisfjördur, Gísli worked at the Ströndin fish processing plant. During this time, he captured the activity of the herring times with great passion and a remarkable eye.

This exhibition was presented in collaboration with the Technical Museum of East Iceland. Many thanks to the family of Gísli Sigurðsson.
